Biometric Passport Photos

The biometric passport photos must meet the following requirements:

Size 3.5 x 4.5 cm.

The face height must be approximately 70-80%.

The image must be clear, high-contrast and evenly lit.

The photo must be of good quality and show natural skin tones.

The background must be plain, light and free of patterns.

The head must be centered in the image and straight.

The eyes should be open and looking at the camera.

A neutral facial expression and closed mouth are mandatory.

Head coverings are only permitted for religious reasons.

Special rules apply to children and infants. Therefore, there are many conditions for the biometric suitability of a passport photo that must be met for the photo to be used as a recognized passport photo.
